MSDH confirms 751 new COVID-19 cases, 10 additional deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 751 new cases of COVID-19.

Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 85,116. With the confirmation 10 additional deaths, 2,536 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.

The latest hospital data (Wednesday’s report) shows that hospitalizations have remained stable in recent days.

Wednesday, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs confirmed the unfortunate death of an otherwise healthy child who passed away as a result of multi-system inflammatory syndrome — a condition associated with COVID-19 among children. The child was between the ages of 1-5.

The number of active outbreaks in long-term care facilities is now at 160. Governor Tate Reeves has announced a $19 million program aimed at delivering additional PPE and testing resources to these facilities in the hope of making visitation safer for family members.
