Insurance scofflaws beware

It’s tempting to feel that car insurance is a losing  gamble–especially if you haven’t had an auto accident in years. But it is the law. And House Insurance Chairman Gary Chism says an Orwellian ‘Big Brother’ is going to make it tougher to shirk your car insurance obligation. By this summer, law enforcement software that can spot you while you’re driving is slated to be standard procedure.

Chism describes insurance identification software:

Instantly, your VIN (vehicle id number) tells them if you have valid insurance. If you you don’t, you are likely to be slapped with a $300 fine. Tentatively operational by Independence weekend.
