The House will gavel in the joint session at 4:45 p.m. with Governor Bryant expected to start the Address around 5:00 p.m. This will be Bryant’s 8th and final State of the State Address and he said it will be a time of reflection on Mississippi’s accomplishments, as well as, a charge to the legislature of their agenda in 2019.

“I will be asking the legislature again to help us with supporting teachers and teacher pay raise,” said Governor Bryant. “We will talk a little bit about criminal justice reform again, but also reflect on how we are at the lowest unemployment rates in Mississippi’s history. How we have got more tax revenue coming in than ever before. Taxes are up 24% in the state of Mississippi, use tax which we’ve never collected before, so all of those are generating additional revenue and much of that for infrastructure.”
