This week Gov. Phil Bryant signed two bills into law at the capitol
On Tuesday he signed Senate Bill 2968, the Trooper School bill. It will allocate additional funding for Mississippi’s trooper school in hopes of beefing up Mississippi Highway Patrol forces on the roads.
Currently there are 475 troopers that work Mississippi’s Highways, this bill would boost that number to at least 650.
Gov. Bryant also signed SB 2689, The Campaign Finance Reform Bill. While it is already illegal and frowned upon in the state of Mississippi to use campaign funds for personal use, this bill will clarify the law surrounding those monies and enforce it.
For the signing he was joined by Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, House Speaker Philip Gunn, Sen. Sally Doty and Reps. Hank Zuber and Jason White. The bill will go into affect on Jan. 1.
