State Treasurer Lynn Fitch and Representative Price Wallace
are inviting Mississippians to find their unclaimed property at Harrisville Day. This coming Saturday, September, 22nd, staff members from State Treasurer Lynn Fitch’s office will be available to help area residents search the State’s unclaimed property list and file claims for their funds.
“Since I took office as Treasurer in January 2012, my office has distributed nearly $89 million in unclaimed property,” said Treasurer Fitch. “This represents over 55% of all the funds distributed through the State unclaimed property program since it began in 1982. We have been so successful thanks to partnerships with local and state elected leaders and I appreciate Representative Wallace inviting me to join him in helping Simpson County residents claim their money.”
Unclaimed property specialists from the Treasurer’s office will be available on Saturday, September 22nd from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Harrisville Community Park, off of Highway 469.
“I look forward to seeing everyone September 22 at Harrisville Day,” said Representative Price Wallace. “I look forward to visiting with everyone and hearing their concerns so I make their voice heard in the 2019 session. It’s going to be a fun time so I encourage everyone to stop by the booth and visit.”
Staff from the Treasurer’s office will be available to help people search the State’s unclaimed property list, complete claims forms, and even notarize their paperwork. Individuals planning to attend are encouraged to bring the following to expedite their claims:
- Photo ID (driver’s license, passport, military ID card, etc.)
- Your Social Security Card
- Proof of address (utility bill, etc.)
- Proof of name change (marriage license, divorce decree, etc.)
- If the owner is deceased, bring the death certificate, will, obituary, or affidavit of death.
