MERIDIAN, Miss. — It’s been nearly four years now since CertainTeed boarded up its Meridian plant. “But the company never lost faith in Meridian,” said Governor Phil Bryant who joined company representatives Monday to announce that CentainTeed is restarting its ceiling tile manufacturing operations in Meridian.
“They understand the importance of Meridian,” he said. “Now they are making a $24 million investment at the same building and bringing back 120 new jobs. This is what puts Mississippi in the top ten economic development states nationwide; and we are very proud CertainTeed is a partner.”
CertainTeed makes its tile and acoustical wall panel products for use in commercial construction projects. It stopped production at the Meridian location in 2009 in the midst of the construction market downturn. Production is now expected to resume during the second quarter of 2014.
