Bret Bielema considered “top candidate” for Southern Miss

As Southern Miss continues to look for its next head football coach, it’s being reported that former Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema is a serious candidate for the job.

According to Steven Godfrey, Jr. of Banner Society, the current outside linebackers coach for the New York Giants has been interviewed for multiple openings—including Southern Miss.

In his career as a college head coach, Bielema holds a 98-58 overall record in stops at both Wisconsin and Arkansas, where he was fired from in November of 2017.

On top of that, teams under Bielema have made it to a bowl game 10 out of 12 years, including three appearances in the Rose Bowl.

Known as one of football’s better defensive minds, Bielema would be a huge hire for the Golden Eagles.
