Authorities warn of officer impersonator

The Simpson County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents of a suspect who has been impersonating a police officer.

He was reported stopping near Maddox Fruit Stand on Highway 28, and is described as a stocky white male with spiked hair. Witnesses say he was driving an older model Ford Crown Victoria with Simpson County decals on it and a single blue light on the dashboard.

Investigator Chris Wallace said they have received two reports of him stopping people and is believed to be targeting women.

If you believe you are being stopped by him, turn your emergency flashers on and dial 911. Give the dispatcher your location and drive to a well lit area or the nearest police department.
