Saturday is Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

All across the nation people will be putting out cans of nonperishable items before the postal service comes around on Saturday. It’s all part of the 25th Annual Letter Carriers’ Food Drive. 

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) is holding it’s 25th annual national food drive on Saturday May 13th. It is the countries larges single-day food drive.

Here are the communities in Mississippi that will be participating:

Amory, Ashland, Bailey, Batesville, Belzoni, Biloxi, Carthage, Clarksdale, Columbia, Columbus, Crystal Springs, D’Iberville, Escatawpa, Flowood, Foxworth, Greenville, Greenwood, Grenada, Gautier, Gulfport, Hattiesburg, Hazlehurst, Hernando, Holly Springs, Horn Lake, Indianola, Inverness, Jackson, Lealand, Long Beach, Louisville, Madison, Magee, Meridian, Moss Point, New Albany, Ocean Springs, Oxfrod, Pascagoula, Pass Christian, Pearl, Perkinston, Peral, Philadelphia, Picayune, Quitman, Ripley, Rolling Fork, Saucier, Southaven, Starkville, Tylertown, Vicksburg, Walnut, Water Valley, Wiggins, and Winona

Many Americans face economic struggles and the NALC is committed to helping end those struggles in the communities they serve. On Saturday May 12, before the mail is delivered, 175,00 letter carriers will collect donations left by residents near their mailboxes. People are encouraged to leave non-perishable foods.

The food collected will then be distributed to local food banks, pantries, or shelters.
