March on Mississippi to protest Nissan

The March on Mississippi is scheduled to take place in Canton Saturday.

Senator Bernie Sanders, Congressman Bennie Thompson, actor and activist Danny Glover, national NAACP president Cornell William Brooks and more will march alongside protesters against claims of intimidation, unfair treatment, and the denial of unions at the plant.

An email from former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Vicki Slater invites the public to join the cause.

“Please join us at this event in Canton, Mississippi on March 4.  The rally and march is to support better working conditions and bringing a union into the Nissan plant in Canton,” said Slater. ” All of the Nissan plants in America except Mississippi have a union, fair wages, benefits and safe working conditions.  There is no reason to treat Mississippi workers like second class citizens.”

The March is scheduled for Saturday, from 12:30-4:00pm.
